We've swept up some statistics which should be of interest to those visiting this site.

In 1997, nearly three-fourths of all arrestees tested in 35 cities had drugs in their system at the time of arrest. Drug abuse costs our society more than 110 Billion Dollars annually in the form of higher insurance rates and the damage caused by drug related crimes. To top things off, consider the fact that the United States now leads the world in the rate of incarceration per capita at 737 per 100,000 and the majority of these are drug related convictions. Now for some good news.

In a Swedish study, a researcher named Peter Gerdman examined the long-term effects of the Narconon® Program for 61 drug abusers who graduated from Narconon Huddinge, a facility outside of Stockholm. After following the graduate's progress for four years, he developed the following summary:

Although 69 percent had been using drugs for 6 to 10 years prior to this program and nearly all were addicted to a multitude of different drugs, four years later 78.6 percent were drug-free.

Further, prior to this program the study group had an average of 3.5 arrests for criminality. During the four years after graduating from Narconon the average dropped to 0.38 arrests representing an 89 percent improvement.

In Spain, Tecnicos Asociados de Investigacion y Marketing (TAIM), an independent sociology group which had done studies on drug issues for the Spanish Ministry of Health and the National Institute of Social Services evaluated the Narconon program. Here are their findings:

Among many things, the study showed that 78.4 percent of the people who completed the Narconon program remained off drugs. Overall, 69.2 percent of the people contacted (including those who had not graduated but only done a portion of the program) were still off drugs.

Not surprisingly, the TAIM study also showed a remarkable effect on criminal activity:

Prior to the program, 62.2 percent of the Narconon students had committed robberies and 73 percent had been dealing drugs (only 10.8 percent had not engaged in criminal activity). After the Narconon program no criminal activities (0 percent) were reported by any graduates.
